Easter 2016

“How beautiful are the feet of the women who bring the Good News!” Isaiah 52:7

Meeting the Open Tomb

Daughters bearing
    their grief, bearing
the burdens of burial:
    pounds of spices, heavy
hearts. Yet, hopeful
    hopeful, in their journey
together. Together they climb
    to the place where their
sweet Lord lay.

“Who will roll away the stone,” they chant
as the dawn scars the darkness red.

“Who will roll away the stone,” they sing
in rhythm with the mourning dove’s song.

“Who will roll away the stone,” they hum
as they encounter the open tomb.

Dropping their burdens of burial spices,
their feet carry a new song down the hill
to the valley below:

He is Risen!
He is Risen, Indeed!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
