“When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks, and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them.” (Acts 2:1-4, The Message)
Vibrant and Wonderful Yahweh,
As I contemplate the campfire
with all of the universe keeping
watch, my starry companions
remind me that the same
fire that dances in front of me
dances all around me.
I am but a speck, but in
the heart of God I am
precious. Just as each star
is named and remember, I too
am named and remembered.
As I watch the fiery ballet before me,
leap and spin and move with
the crackle of the wood,
I feel and know the energy
of the Trinity, the visible God.
Just as you made yourself known
in the pillar of fire, burning bush,
and Pentecost fire, you are real
The God I see is wild and free.
The God I know is full of passionate love.
The God I watch loves the sound of
music and dances with abandonment.
This Spirit lives in me,
In all of us.
Let it ignite and unite us
to live with passion and compassion for all.
Thank you for your bright and fiery Love,
