Welcome To The Daily Hours

“The Daily Hours” has it beginnings in the early Christian Church as they continued the Jewish practice of reciting prayers at certain hours of the day or night. In Psalms 119:164 we read: "Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws."

The Christian monastic communities developed the book of hours containing weekly cycles of Psalms, prayers, hymns and readings that changed with the liturgical season.

By the 15th century, books of hours were mass-produced so that lay people could afford their own personal copy. Women were sometimes given a book of hours as a wedding gift from their husband. This heirloom was often passed down recording the family history. We share with you our e-book of “The Daily Hours.”
