We enter your sacred prayer space with our stringed instruments, ready to praise you. You welcome us, asking how long we will wait to sing your praises. You reveal that our songs are filled with fear as we ask to be considered holy compared to sinners and evil-doers. You invite us to focus on your love and blessings.

We will remain in your house, LORD. We will dwell in safety and will not be afraid anymore. Bless the words of our lips, our thoughts, and our actions, so we will greet each other in a good way.

We gather together in an ascent to your sacred prayer space. We sing as we come to you songs of our ancestors throughout the generations. Before we knew you, even when we did not acknowledge you, your blessings and protection showered upon us. We see you smiling towards us as we praise you.

Almighty God, we humble ourselves as we enter your sacred presence. We become aware of our meagre existence. You are the Creator, who gives us life. You are clothed in majesty and power. Thank you, your breath gives us life.

Thank you for personally knowing each one of our names. Thank you for the gift of friends who encourage us, and give us energy. May we hear your words of wisdom and take refuge in you. May we be a blessing.

We remove our shoes as we enter your sacred prayer space. You remind us of the holiness of your sanctuary. We feel humbled in your presence. Any words we want to say fall to the earth as they depart our mouths. You break our foolish thoughts before us. Only your perfect air surrounds us. Life-giving Spirit carries your words to our ears.
