“Ruth 1:18-22 (The Message)” by Connie Beingessner.

Ruth 1:18-22

Loving Divine Family,

We enter your sacred prayer space feeling hard-pressed by life’s circumstances. We have stories to tell, and you create this space for us to share and listen. We want to rename ourselves with harsh and bitter words, but you remind us of the pleasant names you have given us.

You are the God who sees us and knows what we need. You provide friends to accompany us back to you and a loving community. Because of our relationship with you, we can empty our bitterness, hurt, and disappointments, so that you can fill us with hope and your gentle presence.

I remember your wonderful name for me today, Loving LORD, and thank you for…

Give us wisdom to journey with you and others who encourage us, even when we want to be alone in our despair. Keep us from casting away those who would help us remember our identity in you. We will journey through the darkness of despair to return to your light.

With joy we praise you!

Amen!

Cherie and Donovan Mutschler
